Ode to Joy《歡樂頌》

為德國詩人席勒   Friedrich Schiller 1785年作的詩，貝多芬第9號交響曲第四樂章的歌詞。

詩人在其後致好友信中, 認為歡樂頌是失敗作品, 與現實脫節…

Schiller himself regarded it as a failure later in his life, going so far as to call it "detached from reality" 

and "of value maybe for us two, but not for the world, nor for the art of poetry" in an 1800 letter to his long-time friend…

《歡樂頌》現為歐盟的盟歌, 但只是貝多芬音樂而已, 詩詞並沒有被取納

His tune (but not Schiller's words) was adopted as the Anthem of Europe by the Council of Europe 

in 1972 and subsequently by the European Union.
