What conspiracy theories play on the fears surrounding the Coronavirus?

US Senator Tom Cotton and ex-adviser to POTUS Steve Bannon said the virus was from Chinese biowarfare lab. Even NY Times and Washington Post said it’s a fringe theory without evidence. The most absurd being from China haters that the virus was deliberately released to stop HK protests.

One Canadian  netizen  opined that based on previous newspaper reports  linking  CIA to the swine flu attack on Cuba, origin of the virus from US was not impossible. There has been a case where a Canadian got infected from Iran without going to China or any places near China, and Iran is a US target.

It was reported the Ministry of Health of Russia issued a statement that covid19 was manufactured (cannot find this on English media). Taiwan and other anti-communist channels took it as pointing to China and made a lot of noise. However, HK democrat newspaper the Apple Daily published that US objected to Russia’s false accusation.

Just today 27 Feb, China’s foremost expert on SARS, Professor   Zhong Nanshan   鍾南山  said covid19 may not be originated from China.

Zhong is a Chinese epidemiologist and pulmonologist who discovered the SARS coronavirus in 2003.

He earned international fame for managing the SARS outbreak, and was renowned for refuting the official line which downplayed the severity of the crisis.
